Somali Military Recaptures Town from Al-Shabaab’s Control

Somali National Army (SNA) troops recaptured a town that Al-Shabaab militants had recently taken control of.

On Tuesday, Al-Shabaab extremists had taken control of Amaara, a town in Galmudug.

However, government troops responded to the presence of the extremists by launching an intense military operation.

During the skirmishes, four soldiers lost their lives. Two civilians were also killed.

However, Ahmed Shire Falagle, Galmudug’s Minister of Information, denied reports that the town had fallen into the hands of the militants.

Nevertheless, he confirmed that a fight broke out in the region between government troops and the militants.
