A Somali minister met with a delegation from the United Kingdom to discuss Early Recovery Initiatives (ERI).
Ahmed Fiqi, the federal Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, met with a team from the British Embassy in Mogadishu.
A communiqué from the ministry stated that he met with stabilization advisors and partners from the UK in Mogadishu on Monday, September 19.
They discussed ERI, whose purpose is to support the liberation and stabilization efforts of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
The Somali government has deployed its troops to various parts of the country to liberate them from the control of Al-Shabaab militants.
After liberation, the next step is reconciliation and stabilization to ensure that terrorists never set a foothold in the areas again.
That’s where the Somali government needs the support of other stakeholders and partners such as those from the UK, local community leaders, and traditional elders.
