Somali Minister Resigns over Mismanagement of Counterterrorism Funds and Weapons

Somalia’s State Minister for Planning, Abdirashid Jire Qaline, has officially announced his resignation from the government.

Announcing his resignation on Sunday, Qaline cited serious concerns about “mismanagement” in the allocation of funds and weapons intended for operations against Al-Shabaab.

Additionally, he expressed frustration with “illegitimate agreements” made by the current administration and a “lack of cooperation between the federal government and regional states.”

Jire, who hails from Jubaland State, highlighted these issues as critical in his decision to step down.

His departure reflects ongoing challenges within the Somali government regarding federal-regional relations and resource management in counter-terrorism efforts.
