Mogadishu, Somalia – Somali Minister of Ports and Marine Transport, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, has launched a strong rebuke against opposition leaders, accusing them of being “driven by envy and lacking a clear vision for the country.”
In a statement shared on social media Thursday, Nur defended President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s leadership, praising ongoing efforts to unify the country and strengthen the fight against terrorism despite political turbulence. He described the President’s approach as one centered on stability, security, and national cohesion.
“The government is committed to protecting Somalia’s resources and ensuring that the electoral process is completed transparently and fairly,” Nur said, urging political stakeholders to prioritize national interests over personal rivalries.
The minister’s remarks come at a time of heightened political contestation, with critics of the administration accusing it of mismanaging public resources and mishandling federal-state relations. Nur dismissed these criticisms as politically motivated, instead calling for unity and “constructive action” to address Somalia’s pressing security and economic challenges.
He further emphasized that the fight against terrorism requires broad cooperation, noting that the government has intensified military and community-based operations against Al-Shabaab militants in multiple regions.
The minister concluded his statement with a call for solidarity: “Somalia’s future depends on our ability to stand together, protect our sovereignty, and build a safer, more prosperous nation.”
