A Somali federal legislator has apologized for throwing a water bottle at the Speaker of the House of the People (Lower House).
Mohamed Hassan Murjan, a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lower House, apologized for the deed that took place while the legislators voted to approve the new cabinet.
“I apologize unreservedly for hurling the bottle at the direction of Speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe,” Murjan said.
“I apologize to the people of Somalia, fellow parliamentarians, and Speaker Madobe for the incident,” he continued.
Murjan’s actions were part of several measures employed by many MPs to disrupt the vote on Sunday, August 7.
Speaker Madobe has constituted a committee to investigate the disruptive behavior by the federal MPs.
