Somalia has received 1,000 tons of food from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The East African nation received the donation of food from the UAE on Friday, August 12.
A ship carrying the food has already arrived at the Port of Mogadishu. The food will help Somalis who are currently facing drought and are on the brink of starvation.
Several organizations were involved in ensuring that the food supplies reach Somalia.
They included the Emirates Red Crescent and Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation.
Apart from those, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation was involved too.
The food supplies will go a long way in meeting the food needs of the more than 2.5 million Somalis in the country made vulnerable by the ongoing drought.
