Mogadishu, Somalia – Federal legislator Mohamed Aden Canoy has offered his perspective on the third anniversary of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s administration, marking a key political milestone for the current government.
In an exclusive interview with local media, the lawmaker highlighted both achievements and lingering challenges, noting that while progress has been made in areas like institutional reforms and diplomacy, Somalia still faces serious security threats from Al-Shabaab and political instability in some regions.
Canoy called for greater unity among political stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in addressing the ongoing security situation and implementing the national electoral roadmap.
He urged the federal government to speed up the electoral preparations and ensure transparency and inclusivity in the process.
The lawmaker also stressed the need for stronger regional cooperation and more consistent engagement between federal and state authorities to ensure the country’s democratic transition stays on track.
