A Somali musician, Abshir Gaarane Ahmed, confessed that he has links with the Islamist militant group, Al-Shabaab.
Consequently, Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) arrested him.
NISA arrested the musician, who is part of a band that performs in the Banaadir Region, on Tuesday following investigations.
Moreover, NISA tweeted a video of the musician confessing that he has been in charge of collecting information and finances on behalf of Al-Shabaab in Banaadir.
Al-Shabaab denies that Ahmed is one of them.
The musician enjoys amazing popularity in the country.
He performed a song praising Somali’s flag. That song is still on YouTube under Somali National TV’s (SNTV) channel. SNTV is a state-owned broadcaster.
