Early on Thursday morning, Somali National Army (SNA) announced that it has captured the head tax collector of Al-Shabaab.
The capture took place in Lower Shabelle Region.
Brig. Abdi-humid Mohamed Dirir, the Commander of SNA, said that government troops had carried out security operations in the last week, which led to the capture of the tax collector.
Mohamed Yusuf Mansur, the captured militant, has been in charge of the militia’s tax revenue in Lower Shabelle.
SNA has been carrying out security checks in the region to secure it from the extremist group that has wrecked havoc Lower Shabelle for years.
