A delegation of officers from the Somali National Armed Forces has joined 100 young military officers from various African countries on a 10-day official visit to China. The program, organized and hosted by the Chinese Ministry of National Defence, is designed to foster mutual understanding, promote professional exchange, and strengthen the longstanding friendship between China and Africa.
The initiative reflects China’s growing engagement with African nations in the defense and security sector, and aims to provide a platform for young military leaders to discuss shared challenges, strategic cooperation, and opportunities for collaboration in peacekeeping, counterterrorism, and regional stability.
Participants will engage in a series of seminars, military base tours, cultural exchanges, and leadership workshops, all curated to enhance bilateral and multilateral military ties. For Somali officers, this visit is particularly significant as the country works to modernize its armed forces and expand its international partnerships.
