Nairobi, Kenya – A delegation from the Federal Government of Somalia is taking part in the 37th International Air Transport Association (IATA) Ground Handling Conference (IGHC), which is being held in Nairobi from May 13 to 15, 2025.
The IGHC is the premier global forum for ground handling professionals, drawing hundreds of participants from leading airlines, airports, ground service providers, and aviation manufacturers. The Somali delegation is joining other industry leaders to discuss the latest standards, innovations, and regulatory developments in ground handling operations.
The conference offers Somalia a platform to network with global aviation stakeholders and gain insights into best practices, safety protocols, and emerging technologies in ground operations. Somalia’s participation also reflects its continued commitment to modernizing the aviation sector and aligning with international standards as part of the country’s broader transport development strategy.
This year’s IGHC features discussions on digitalization, sustainability in airport operations, and global policy updates that impact ground handling services. The Somali delegation is expected to use the experience to inform domestic reforms and strengthen regulatory frameworks governing air transport and airport services.
