Somali Opposition Faults Government’s Move to Expel Kenyan Ambassador

Opposition parties in Somalia have faulted the move by the government to expel the Kenyan Ambassador.

On Tuesday, December 1, the opposition parties issued a joint statement condemning the decision by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to expel Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Lucas Tumbo.

Tumbo was the Kenyan Ambassador to Somalia.

Somalia’s opposition parties said that the government took the decision purely as an “election campaign” strategy.

They also expressed worry over the negative impact the move would have on businesses run by Somalis in Kenya.

Furthermore, they asked the government of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to consider the effect such a move would have on Somali students and travelers to Kenya too.
