Somalia’s federal parliament has approved the decision that allows the country to be the newest member of the East African Community (EAC).
On Saturday, parliamentarians from the House of the People (Lower House) voted to approve the EAC Treaty.
Consequently, their action now ensures that parliament approves and confirms its membership in the regional economic bloc.
EAC Secretariat welcomed Somalia as its newest member in early December 2023 after an extraordinary meeting of its heads of state and government.
