The House of the People (Lower House) of the federal parliament of Somalia has endorsed the United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime and its associated Protocols.
The approval signals Somalia’s dedication to tackling organized crime through both national and international frameworks.
This Convention, adopted by the UN General Assembly in November 2000, is the leading international tool for combating transnational organized crime.
Opened for signature in Palermo, Italy, in December 2000, it came into effect on September 29, 2003.
Somalia’s endorsement demonstrates its commitment to cooperating with global efforts to address challenges like human trafficking, arms smuggling, and other forms of transnational crime.
