The Second Deputy Speaker of Somalia’s House of the People, Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, leads a parliamentary delegation to the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
He leads a delegation that includes representatives from both chambers of Parliament, including the Secretary-General of the House of the People, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdulle (Jaabiri).
The Assembly, themed “Parliamentary Action for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions,” brings together lawmakers from around the globe to engage in strategic dialogue on how parliaments can foster inclusive development and uphold justice.
Deputy Speaker Abshirow is expected to deliver a keynote address spotlighting Somalia’s advancements in counterterrorism, judicial reforms, national security, and broader social development efforts.
The IPU Assembly remains a vital forum for parliamentary leaders to exchange ideas, strengthen international cooperation, and contribute to shaping global policy on critical challenges facing their nations and the world.
