Somali PM and US President Meet in New York

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and United States President Joe Biden met on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79) in New York.

During their meeting on Thursday, Prime Minister Barre and President Biden vowed to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Somalia and the United States.

Their talks emphasized enhancing cooperation in security, state-building, and counterterrorism efforts.

Prime Minister Barre expressed his gratitude for the ongoing U.S. support, particularly in these crucial areas, which are vital for Somalia’s continued development.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia.

They also underscored the importance of stability in the Horn of Africa.
