Somali PM Attends Opening Session of UNGA79

Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre is currently in New York, where he participated in the official opening of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

In his forthcoming address, the Prime Minister is expected to highlight Somalia’s significant strides in security, its ongoing development initiatives, and the country’s vision for the future.

He will also emphasize Somalia’s readiness to take on new responsibilities as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, a role it will begin in 2025.

This marks a pivotal moment for Somalia’s growing engagement in international diplomacy and peacekeeping efforts.
