The head of the Somali Police Force (SPF) held a series of discussions with his counterparts from Turkey on August 28.
Abdi Hassan Hijar, the SPF Chief, held the talks with his Turkish counterparts in Mogadishu.
Hijar’s meeting with the head of Emergency Operations Force and the Chief of Police Academy in Ankara focused on several issues.
Mostly, their discussions dwelt on the need for Turkey to strengthen and support SPF.
Turkey has been one of Somalia’s most important international allies. It has invested in security operations in Somalia, especially in the war against Al-Shabaab militants.
The European nation routinely donates military equipment to security agencies in the East African nation.
Moreover, Turkey has been active in training Somali security officers, especially the Harama’ad police unit and Gorgor soldiers.
