Somali police have been reminded of the important role they can play in stabilizing the areas recently liberated from the grip of Al-Shabaab militants.
Omar Hashi, the Special Presidential Envoy for Stabilization and Civilian Protection, reminded police officers this when he met with their commanders on Tuesday.
Hashi said this when he met Sulub Ahmed Firin, the Somali Police Force (SPF) Commissioner.
Brig. Gen. Zakia Hussein was present at the meeting and subsequent discussions too.
Hashi urged Firin and Hussein to be at the forefront of encouraging police officers to be diligent and professional in their duties, especially in newly liberated areas.
The Special Presidential Envoy for Stabilization and Civilian Protection was at the police headquarters in Mogadishu.
