Somali Political Parties Blast Criticize Recent Consultative Conference

Mogadishu — Five prominent Somali political parties — Xaqsoor, Samadoon, DPC, Ramaas, and Dhulka Hooyo — have condemned the recently concluded National Consultative Conference in Mogadishu as “flawed and divisive,” warning that pushing constitutional and electoral reforms without broad consensus risks deepening the nation’s political crisis.

In a joint statement released on Monday, the associations expressed concern that rushing major reforms without inclusive consultations could further destabilize Somalia.

They urged all political stakeholders to pursue genuine dialogue and reach broad-based political agreement before making any significant constitutional and electoral changes.

The groups emphasized the need for an inclusive roadmap to finalize the Constitution and ensure credible elections that reflect the will of the people.

While they welcomed the extension of consultations and acknowledged the federal government’s stated commitment to pursuing constitutional and electoral reforms, they underlined that these processes must be carried out transparently and collectively.

The associations concluded by calling on all parties to prioritize Somalia’s stability, urging leaders to put the national interest first and work together to deliver a fair and democratic outcome.
