President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia participated in the 43rd Extraordinary Virtual Assembly of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) focused on South Sudan.
During the assembly, Somalia emphasized the urgent need for an immediate cessation of hostilities, de-escalation of tensions, and a return to dialogue among conflicting parties.
Somalia reiterated that peace and stability must be prioritized to ensure a secure and prosperous future for the people of South Sudan.
This aligns with IGAD’s broader mission to promote peace, security, and cooperation in the region, especially within the war-ravaged nations in this part of Africa.
