Somalia’s President has called upon authorities in the country to act quickly to combat the effects of the impending El Nino rains.
Experts believe that El Nino will hit Somalia and the entire Horn of Africa region in the last 2-3 months of the year.
While chairing Thursday’s cabinet meeting, President Mohamud urged the government and international partners to be proactive in instituting lifesaving measures in Somalia.
“We have to remain vigilant to implement policies that would safeguard our country and everyone in it in the face of the looming threat of El Nino,” the President told his cabinet.
