Mogadishu – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held a telephone conversation on Tuesday evening with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to express condolences and solidarity following the latest Israeli military actions in Doha.
During the call, President Mohamud conveyed his deep sympathy to the Qatari leadership and people, denouncing the attack as a heinous act that endangered innocent civilians and violated international law. He underscored that Somalia firmly rejects any breach of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Somali leader reiterated his government’s commitment to standing alongside Qatar in the face of external aggression, affirming that Somalia views the targeting of residential areas and civilian infrastructure as a grave escalation that undermines regional peace and stability.
The conversation also highlighted the longstanding fraternal ties between Somalia and Qatar, with President Mohamud emphasizing that the two nations will continue to cooperate closely on regional security, humanitarian priorities, and defense of international norms.
Qatar, which has been a key supporter of Somalia’s stabilization and development efforts, has faced growing tensions in recent months as Israeli military strikes extended beyond occupied territories into neighboring states. Somalia has consistently condemned such actions, calling for accountability and stronger international action to protect civilians.
