Somali President Calls US Security Alert “Foreign Propaganda”

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has spoken out against the recent security alert issued hy the United States government through it’s Mogadishu Embassy.

In remarks captured on Friday at the presidential mosque, the President countered narratives that suggest Somalia is under imminent security threat.

By dismissing such claims as “foreign propaganda” and a “pro-Al-Shabaab narrative,” he aims to reassure the public about the country’s stability, despite ongoing challenges.

This comes in the wake of a security alert from the U.S. Embassy in Somalia, which warned of potential terrorist attacks, highlighting the complex security environment in the region.

The President’s statement underscores the delicate balance between addressing legitimate security concerns and maintaining public confidence in the government’s ability to manage threats.
