Somali President Chairs National Security Meeting

Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud chaired a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC).

The President chaired the meeting that took place at Villa Somalia, Mogadishu on Tuesday.

Issues discussed included preparations for the withdrawal of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troops.

Members of the NSC also discussed accelerating the ongoing war on Al-Shabaab militants in the country.

The President led discussions on the development of a security plan for the country too.

Ministers whose dockets touch on security matters also attended the meeting as did senior Somali military commanders.
