Somali President Congratulates Djibouti on 47th Independence Anniversary

Mogadishu, Somalia – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has extended warm congratulations to the government and people of Djibouti on the occasion of their 47th Independence Day, reaffirming Somalia’s enduring friendship and commitment to regional peace.

In a statement released on Friday, President Mohamud praised Djibouti’s progress since gaining independence in 1977 and hailed the strong historical and cultural bonds between the two neighboring nations.

He emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation in promoting stability and prosperity across the Horn of Africa.

“On behalf of the Somali people, I congratulate my brother President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh and the people of Djibouti on this important milestone. We remain committed to deepening our partnership in pursuit of peace, security, and shared development in our region,” Somali President said.

President Guelleh presided over national celebrations in the capital, Djibouti City, highlighting the country’s achievements in infrastructure, trade, and regional diplomacy. The anniversary comes at a time when both Somalia and Djibouti play crucial roles in the Horn of Africa’s integration and counterterrorism efforts.

The two nations have recently enhanced cooperation in areas such as port development, security collaboration, and diplomatic coordination at regional and continental forums.
