Somali President Holds Discussions with UK Development Minister

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held discussions with the United Kingdom’s Minister of Development and Africa.

Mohamud met with Andrew Mitchell, the UK development minister, in Doha.

They held a brief session on the sidelines of the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LCD5) in the Qatari capital.

President Mohamud’s discussions with Mitchell mostly focused on debt relief efforts.

They discussed climate change and the impact it has on Somalia, which is currently grappling with a drought brought about by failed rains for five consecutive seasons.

The Somali leader and Mitchell reiterated the need for building capacity for sustainable development.
