Kenyan President William Ruto invited Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Nairobi for a diplomatic meeting coinciding with the unveiling of Raila Odinga as Kenya’s candidate for the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship.
The invitation comes at a time when regional cooperation is increasingly critical, and Somalia’s role in the Horn of Africa’s stability is pivotal.
Raila Odinga, a seasoned politician and former Prime Minister of Kenya, is being positioned as a strong candidate to lead the AU, emphasizing regional integration and addressing security challenges.
The meeting between the two presidents is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations and discuss key issues, including security, trade, and regional development.
However, President Ruto also invited other presidents from the region to the unveiling that takes place in Nairobi on Tuesday.
These include Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu, and South Sudanese President Salva Kiir.
