President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia arrived in Burundi on Sunday on an official visit that will see him holding talks with several local leaders.
The Somali President’s arrival in Bujumbura marks an important moment in Somalia’s diplomatic relations with Burundi.
Upon his arrival, the Somali President was received by his host, President Évariste Ndayishimiye, before heading to the presidential palace for discussions.
During their discussions, both leaders focused on enhancing strategic security cooperation and addressing regional stability.
Their discussions reaffirmed the commitment to fostering peace and prosperity in the region.
President Mohamud expressed deep appreciation for Burundi’s significant contributions and sacrifices under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
This collaboration underscores the strong bilateral ties between Somalia and Burundi in advancing mutual interests in regional security.
