President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Mogadishu to inaugurate two significant projects: the New Mogadishu Development Corporation (NMDC) and the New Mogadishu International Airport (NMIA).
The NMDC aims to spearhead urban development initiatives in the capital, fostering economic growth and infrastructure enhancement.
The NMIA is planned to alleviate congestion at the existing Aden Adde International Airport, accommodating the increasing air traffic and improving aviation services.
The new airport is expected to be located in El Ma’an, on the outskirts of Mogadishu, chosen for its favorable topography and climate.
These projects are part of the government’s broader efforts to rebuild and modernize Somalia’s infrastructure, promoting economic development and stability in the region.
The launch event is currently underway, marking a milestone in Mogadishu’s development trajectory.
