President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has likened Somalia’s ongoing counterterrorism operations to the fight for independence.
The President said this while speaking to military commanders in Dhusamareb.
“Somalis fought hard to attain independence from their colonialists,” the President stated.
“We have to be ready to fight just as hard to rid our country off Al-Shabaab terrorists around the country,” he told the commanders.
President Mohamud met with the military commanders on Thursday.
He has been in central Somalia for over a month now leading the national armed forces in fighting Al-Shabaab terrorists.
