Somali President Reaffirms Commitment to Weaken Al-Shabaab

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has reaffirmed his commitment to weaken the Al-Shabaab terrorist group in Somalia.

The Somali President spoke in the wake of the brazen attack at Hayat Hotel on Friday last week, which killed 21 people.

Al-Shabaab militants attacked the hotel, which is one of the most popular in Mogadishu, on August 19.

Security forces eventually killed all the terrorists who launched the attack at the hotel more than 30 hours later on Saturday night.

President Mohamud has appealed to the public to support his government as it launches an all-out attack against Al-Shabaab.

He spoke following a meeting held at Villa Somalia with members of the national security committee on Tuesday, August 23.
