President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia says that Al-Shabaab is now history.
He was speaking while addressing the nation in a televised speech broadcast to the entire country on December 6.
The President spoke a few moments before departing for Djibouti.
“The Al-Shabaab terrorists are now history and will not come back to terrorize and haunt the people of Somalia,” President Mohamud said in his televised address.
He spoke shortly after widespread reports of the recapture of Adan Yabaal town by the Somali National Army (SNA) emerged.
The President commended the army for carrying out a successful fight against the terrorists.
President Mohamud also praised the cooperation between government troops and local communities to ensure that the terrorists are completely annihilated from the land.
