Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud addressed the nation during Friday prayers at the presidential palace in Mogadishu, tackling the ongoing security challenges and the political situation in Jubbaland.
He emphasized that his administration has no plans to use force against Jubbaland President Ahmed Madobe’s administration.
However, he criticized Madobe for allegedly showing “zero intention” to combat Al-Shabaab militants in the region.
President Mohamud reiterated his commitment to holding direct elections nationwide, thus signaling his intent to expand democratic processes despite ongoing security issues.
He also expressed a willingness to collaborate with opposition politicians to achieve consensus on key national issues.
This speech highlights the president’s approach of dialogue and collaboration while addressing the dual challenges of insecurity and political fragmentation.
