Somali President Shouldn’t Travel to Ethiopia, Declares Opposition Leader

The President of Somalia will make a huge mistake by traveling to Ethiopia.

An opposition leader has slammed the trip President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud plans to take to Addis Ababa in the next few days.

Abdirahman Abdishakur, the leader of the opposition Wadajir Party, spoke strongly against the impending trip.

President Mohamud announced his impending trip on Thursday.

He plans to attend meetings by the African Union, Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and East African Community (EAC).

Abdishakur said that Somalia has to reduce its relations with Ethiopia.

His comments come amid the growing diplomatic rows between Somalia and Ethiopia.

The row kicked off on January 1 this year when Ethiopia signed what has become a controversial deal with Somaliland.
