President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has signed a new law that nullifies the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that Ethiopia signed with Somaliland.
The President signed the law at the Presidential Palace on Saturday.
Through this act, President Mohamud nullified the agreement that Ethiopia and Somaliland signed on January 1, 2024.
The MoU granted Ethiopia direct access to one of Somaliland’s ports.
On the other hand, it ensured that Ethiopia would finally offer Somaliland the international recognition the latter has sought for over three decades.
