Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is to travel to the United States for a meeting at the Pentagon.
The US Department of Defense announced that President Mohamud is expected at the Pentagon “for an enhanced honor cordon and a bilateral meeting on Thursday, September 15.”
The meeting is expected to kick off at 12.30 pm EDT.
President Mohamud travels to Washington DC straight from his two-day visit to Kenya where he attended President Dr. William Ruto’s inauguration on September 13.
Lloyd Austin III, the US Secretary of Defense, is expected to welcome Mohamud to the Pentagon.
The visit is the first to the US by President Mohamud since he won the presidential elections.
