Somali President Urged to Stop Amending Constitution

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been urged to stop amending the provisional constitution.

Opposition leaders in the East African nation advised the President to call off all ongoing amendments.

Their cry came in the wake of the plans by parliament to debate the amendments approved for the first four chapters of the provisional constitution.

Furthermore, they called on him to cancel the selling of public land.

The opposition leaders wrote to the President on Sunday.

Instead, they encouraged President Mohamud’s administration to prioritize the ongoing war on Al-Shabaab.

In their view, the government needs to put more focus on the plans by Ethiopia to access the Red Sea through Somaliland.
