Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has called upon Islamic scholars to play a significant role in the ideological war against extremism.
The President said this on Saturday during his meeting with Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed El-Tayeb, the head of Al-Azhar.
President Mohamud and El-Tayeb held their discussions in Cairo where the Somali leader is on an official visit at the invitation of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The Somali President and the head of Al-Azhar both agreed that Islamic scholars have a huge role to play in fighting extremism.
