Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has appealed to the public to stay away from areas frequented by Al-Shabaab.
President Mohamud issued this call on Monday, September 12.
His comments followed a daylong meeting between the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS), which he chaired.
The President said that the government is committed to the fight against terrorism.
Consequently, he stated that government troops are currently targeting Al-Shabaab fighters across the country.
“Every Al-Shabaab fighter or person is a target. We will bomb, attack, and raid them,” President Mohamud said.
“Therefore, every member of the public should stay away from Al-Shabaab,” he concluded.
The federal and regional governments have ramped up the fight against terrorists in recent weeks.
Local communities around the country have also joined the federal and regional security operations to defeat the militants.
