President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has appealed to the leader of the regional state of Puntland to respect the wish of his people.
The Somali President appealed to President Said Abdullahi Deni to listen to the wish of the people he leads.
His comments, which he made on Friday after prayers at a Mogadishu mosque, came in the wake of fears that Deni intends to interfere with Puntland’s upcoming local government elections.
President Barre’s comments could be construed as a direct criticism against the Puntland leader.
“Deni runs the risk of eroding the gains made in the last 24 years,” the President added.
