MOGADISHU — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, welcomed a high-level Turkish delegation at his office in Mogadishu. The delegation was headed by Ambassador Ali Onaner, Director General for Africa at Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and included Turkey’s Ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktaş.
The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral ties between Somalia and Turkey, with special attention given to security cooperation and counterterrorism initiatives designed to promote stability in the country and the broader region.
Strategic Partnership
Prime Minister Hamza expressed gratitude to Turkey’s government and citizens for their steadfast support. He highlighted Turkey as a crucial ally that has substantially contributed to Somalia’s security and the protection of its unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
In response, Ambassador Ali Onaner appreciated the reception and reaffirmed Turkey’s ongoing dedication to supporting the Somali government and populace. He emphasized Ankara’s commitment to deepening bilateral collaboration between the two nations.
