Somali Prime Minister Visits IDP Camp in Beledweyne

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre visited a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Beledweyne on Thursday.

The Prime Minister had arrived in HirShabelle state a few moments ago.

He then went to spend time with the IDPs at the camp. During the visit, he assured them that the government is seeking solutions to their predicament.

Most of the IDPs at the camp abandoned their homes in the wake of the ongoing drought.

Prime Minister Barre said that his visit is one of the many he would take around the country to assess the national response to the devastating humanitarian situation.

He was in the company of HirShabelle’s President Ali Gudlawe Hussein.

Other federal government ministers also joined the Prime Minister in his visit. They included Abdulkadir Mohamud Nur, the Minister of Defense.
