Somali Red Crescent launched a toll-free number for people caught up in emergencies anywhere in the country.
The organization announced that it would cost Somalis, or anyone in the country, nothing to dial the number.
Red Crescent said that users only have to dial 446 on their mobile phones to request ambulance services and other medical services for emergencies.
Users would then not have to wait long for the emergency response team to show up at the scene and provide the much-needed service.
Moreover, Red Crescent assured users that its personnel would continue working even during these COVID-19 times to transport patients to hospital for medical treatment.
The service was launched on Saturday, September 12.
