Somali Security Forces Rescued 106 People from Mogadishu’s Hayat Hotel, Says Police Chief

Security forces in Somalia rescued 106 people from Hayat Hotel in Mogadishu.

Major General Abdi Hassan Mohamed Hijar, the Somali Police Force (SPF) Commander, said this while addressing the media on Sunday, August 21.

Al-Shabaab terrorists attacked Hayat Hotel on Friday.

They then barricaded themselves in the hotel until Saturday night when the security forces killed them all.

Maj. Gen. Hijar confirmed that security forces regained control of the hotel at midnight.

He reassured the public that women and children were among those rescued from the hotel.

The Somali police chief asked the nation to wait for a final report on the casualties from the federal Ministry of Health.
