Somali Senator Mohamed Ali Yusuf Gaagaab has passed away in Türkiye, as confirmed by his family and colleagues on Tuesday.
Gaagaab had a distinguished career in public service, notably serving as Puntland’s interim Vice President from October 10, 2004, to January 8, 2005.
Following this role, he served as the region’s Finance Minister from January 2005 to January 29, 2009.
His contributions to Puntland’s administration and financial governance during a critical period are remembered as significant.
