Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers have killed six Al-Shabaab fighters in a military operation conducted in Lower Shabelle.
The two sides were caught in a fight that lasted for hours in several villages in the region.
Reports indicate that SNA soldiers stormed the villages of Osbo, Bernasey, Hawaljiri, and yaq-Bishaar to smoke members of the Al-Qaeda linked group out.
During the fight, SNA soldiers killed six members of the extremist group.
The operation comes hot in the wake of the recent appointment of Brig. Gen. Abbas Amin Ali as the Commander of the Infantry division of the army.
He replaced Brig. Gen. Abdihahid Mohamed Dirir who was appointed the new Commander of Navy by President Mohamed Farmaajo in this week’s reshuffling of the leadership of SNA.
