No Somalia soldier died in the war between the Ethiopian government’s soldiers and Tigray rebels last year.
Abdikarin Ali Kaar, a spokesperson for Villa Somalia, made this statement during a press briefing on Tuesday, July 19.
Kaar called reports of the deaths of Somali soldiers during last year’s clashes between Ethiopian forces and Tigray rebels “rumors.”
He confirmed that the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) sent its soldiers to Eritrea to receive military training.
However, none of those Eritrea-trained soldiers died in the Ethiopian vs. Tigray clashes.
Moreover, the Villa Somalia spokesperson confirmed that the government has devised plans to bring the Eritrea-trained soldiers back home.
