Somali students have received scholarships to join Somali National University (SNU) in Mogadishu.
The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) announced the scholarships through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Abdisaid Muse Ali, the foreign affairs minister, announced that the scholarships are courtesy of a framework he signed in Rome in December 2021.
Ali signed the framework with Marco Minniti.
Minniti is the Chairman of the MED-Or Leonardo Foundation.
Ali had been in the company of Abdullahi Abukar Haji, Somalia’s Minister of Education.
Luigi Di Maio, Italy’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, had witnessed the signing of the framework too.
The scholarships are for students interested in careers in medicine.
Additionally, those pursuing Masters’ degrees in mechanical engineering, security, human rights, circular economy, environmental studies, and forestry are free to apply.
