Somali women received $1 million from the United Kingdom to fight the effects of climate change in the country.
The UK Embassy in Mogadishu announced the disbursement of the funds on Friday.
While announcing the fund, the Embassy added that the women would receive it through the Conflict Security and Stability Funding (CSSF).
Recipients would then use the funds to support the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Media Action Project in the East African nation.
The project seeks to bring the role played by Somali women in areas such as climate change, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and gender equality into the mainstream.
